Four’s top four tips for exercise while away from home

Equipment.

Grab yourself some home/campsite workout essentials - a mat, a resistance band or two, a trigger ball, and if you can fit it a foam roller. These will be super handy when it comes to doing your exercises and stretches while away.

Load management.

It can be tempting with all of your free time to exercise more than your body is used to, or to start up a new form of exercise that your friend or family member ropes you into. Although this can be fun, it is important not to change things up too much when it comes to training loads to avoid unwanted injuries popping up.

Don’t be too hard on yourself.

You are on holiday after all! If you are feeling run down after a big year, then this might be a good time to take a step back and rest for a short period of time. Sleep-ins and restful days are just as good as a hard workout sometimes.

Fueling and hydration.

Although it may be tempting to fuel with turkey and champagne for 5 days straight - it is important to ensure that you are fueling adequately around your training. Remember to keep up that water intake and ensure that you are taking on board enough carbohydrate and protein for your exercise needs and the changing weather.

Happy exercising and happy holidays!
